Amy Smart is a former American model and actor. Her modeling career started in Italy in Italy, where she was raised and born in California. Her acting career began in 1996, when she was a character in the TV film Her Costly Affair. She struggled to get an appearance for her in Starship Troopers. This was not easy for Amy as she had change from modeling to performing. Models aren't thought of as great actors and so tend to get smaller, insignificant roles. However, Amy did not give up and stepped into bigger roles eventually starting with the show The 70s and the film Varsity Blues. Amy later stepped into lead roles in the romantic comedy Just Friends starring Ryan Reynolds. Amy found her recognition after more than ten years struggling. Amy continued to make significant films, like Crank opposite Jason Statham or Shameless in which she was loved as a recurring part of the cast.
